Technical Support :JeppView, FliteDeck and FliteStar Vista program updates

Commencing with NavData Cycle 0809, we will be releasing updates to the JeppView, JeppView FliteDeck and FliteStar applications. You will receive an automatic update to your software if you update by download via the internet or by CD load. The programs will be available for download beginning August 26, 2008. If you subscribe to a CD-update service, you should receive your update through ground shipment with the Terminal Chart Cycle 17 update. For a list of changes in the application, refer to the readme notes and the "What's New" topic in the individual help files.

Administrative privileges will be required in order to apply the program update on your computer. If you are trying to update the software on a computer in a corporate environment where you do not have administrative privileges, you will need to contact your system administrator to provide you with administrative privileges on your computer.

Additionally, for our customers who may be experiencing slower operation of the JeppView FliteDeck application: With the Vista release, there appears to be an incompatibility between the older Jeppesen Weather Controller (JWC) in older versions of FliteDeck and the new Vista aware version that was released with FliteDeck. A new Jeppesen Weather Controller application has been implemented to fix this. If you are experiencing slow performance of the FliteDeck program, please try the following to install the new JWC within the application to solve any operational issues with FliteDeck before contacting Technical Support:

STEP 1: Uninstall the Jeppesen Weather Controller (JWC)
1. Open the Control Panel
The procedure for opening the Control Panel depends on the Operating System and if you are using the Classic view
Try one of the following:

  • * Open My Computer and click the Control Panel on the left panel
  • * Click Start > Settings > Control Panel
  • * Click Start > Control Panel

2. Choose Add or Remove Programs
3. Click Jeppesen Weather Service
4. Select Remove
5. In the welcome dialog box, select Uninstall Jeppesen Weather Service, and then click Next
6. Reboot your computer

STEP 2: Reinstall JWC
1. Browse to the JWC installer at one of the following locations depending on your computer setup:

  • * (Windows 2000 and XP) C:\Jeppesen\FliteDeck3\Utils
  • * (Windows 2000, XP and Vista) C:\Program Files\Jeppesen\FliteDeck3\Utils

2. Double-click JeppesenWeatherServiceSetup.exe
3. Follow the installation instructions
4. Configure XmLink (refer to the “Satellite Weather Initial Installation and Configuration” topic in the JeppView FliteDeck help file)
5. Reboot your computer

STEP 3: Open FliteDeck and test the performance
If you are still experiencing slow performance, contact a Jeppesen Technical Support Representative.
