Q1.Does Jeppesen Mobile run on the new Windows Mobile 5 and Mobile 6 devices?

Yes. Jeppesen Mobile also runs on Pocket PCs running Pocket PC 2003, or Pocket PC 2003 (Second Edition).

Q2.What Devices do you recommend?

Some of the most popular Smartphones (non-touch screens), Pocket PC Phones and Pocket PC's (touch screens) are shown in the table below although many other compatible devices are available as well. Choice depends on your carrier, required screen size, real keyboard availability and other considerations.

We suggest getting a Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition or Smartphone with an unlimited data plan (about $20-$30 per month) with the Edge or the much faster 3G network (EVDO on Verizon and HSDPA on AT&T). This way you can combine your PDA with your phone, have an Internet connection, email and access to Jeppesen Mobile´s ever-increasing online functionality.

Q3.When I run Jeppesen Mobile, I get an error message that says "Cannot find Jeppesen Mobile."

Make sure the path and filename are correct and all the required libraries are available. This means that your Pocket PC is relatively old and does not have Microsoft's .NET Compact Framework installed. Please see the next question (below). If you receive the error dialog shown above, you will need to download and install the Compact Framework from Microsoft at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads.

Q4.How do I download Jeppesen Mobile?

Go to www.jeppesen.com/mobile and follow the instructions to download and install Jeppesen Mobile through your desktop or directly to your device.

Q5.How do I install Jeppesen Mobile from the desktop?

Ensure your Pocket PC is docked in the cradle and that Microsoft's ActiveSync 4.2 (or later) is installed and running on your PC. Then double click on the JeppesenMobile-install.exe you downloaded. Jeppesen Mobile will be automatically installed on your PDA.

Q6.Some features seem to be disabled. Why?

Jeppesen Mobile installs as a 'Demo Edition' thereby allowing you to try some of its features. You need to register your Jeppesen Mobile Software to enable all the functionality and online services. By registering, you will receive a key that will enable the full functionality of the software. Registration information will be contained in the email confirmation you receive soon after you purchase Jeppesen Mobile.

Q7.How do I file bugs or request features?

We are committed to providing you with bug-free software. If you find a problem just email our Software Support Team. Bug fixes will be made as soon as possible and new versions of the software will be made available. New feature requests are very important too. In fact, many of the usability features of Jeppesen Mobile come from Jeppesen Mobile users.

Q9.I always see "Takeoff CG out of normal envelope." How do I fix this?

Please ensure that you entered the moment in pound.inches and not in thousands of pound.inches. For example, enter 123456 instead of 123.456. If you still get the error message, email our Software Support Team and let us know the model, the empty weight, and the empty moment exactly as you entered them and we will try to resolve the issue. Most problems can be solved by removing the decimal point in the empty moment entry.

Q10.When are you going to port it to Palm devices?

We have no plans to port Jeppesen Mobile to Palm devices that run the Palm Operating System. We believe that Windows Mobile provides numerous advantages that make Jeppesen Mobile significantly more powerful than we could have achieved on the Palm Operating System. If you are interested in Palm devices however take a look at the Palm 700wx or the Palm 75 which both run the Windows Mobile Operating System. The Palm 700w ships with only 32MB of RAM of which less than 10MB is usable after the OS has booted. Almost every other WM 5.0 device has at least 64MB RAM. While Jeppesen Mobile is extremely efficient with its memory usage, we encourage users not to buy any Pocket PC with only 32MB.

Q11.My aircraft model does not appear in the Aircraft Model Database. How do I add it?

We recommend using Jeppesen Mobile´s Aircraft Model Manager. The list of the nearly 500 currently supported models can be found here.
