This course prepares you for the FAA/NAA Dispatcher knowledge requirements. You will also learn about the duties and responsibilities of the aircraft dispatcher and acquire in-depth knowledge of commercial aviation dispatch procedures, work rules, local and international regulations and the use of sophisticated electronic flight planning systems, flight following and weather software. Upon completion of this program, applicants will be proficient in the following subject areas: Meteorology, Aeromedical, Emergency, Security, Communications, Air Traffic Control, Navigation Principles, Navigation Systems, Instrument Approach Procedures, Charts and Airspace, Aerodynamics, Aircraft Systems, Weight and Balance, Aircraft Performance, Aircraft MEL/CDL, Regulations, Special Navigation & International Ops, Deicing and Anti-icing, Manual Flight Planning, Dispatch Resource Management, and Practical Dispatching.
A dedicated instruction module is provided on Dispatcher Tools which will review the fundamentals of tools such as Airline Operations Control systems, flight planning, crew scheduling, airport analysis / aircraft performance analysis, NavData, Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) and other related products. While daily instruction focuses on manual flight planning and practical dispatching application, these skills are transferable to all dispatching tools, better preparing students for any airline initial training course. This program also promotes and organizes tours of FAA Air Route Traffic Control Centers, FAA Control Towers, Airline Operations Control Centers/Flight Dispatch Offices and full flight or fixed based aircraft simulators when available.
The standard course is 200 contact hours, with additional study time required. The full-time classroom course consists of 30 days, held eight-hours per day over 6 weeks.
