Crew Academy Course Paths & Prerequisites
User Roles
The support team roles are used to describe the roles (not persons) needed in the customer's organization in order to build the right competence and to meet the Jeppesen project and maintenance organization during the implementation and after the hand over. In some cases, one person will take on two support team roles.

A Planner creates, optimizes, maintains and publishes resources, trips or rosters while maintaining minimal cost. A planner has a good understanding of the planning problem and uses both manual and automatic functionality in the Carmen system to solve the planning problem.

A Tracker manages recovery of disrupted rosters while maintaining minimal cost. A tracker has a good understanding of the planning problem and disruption situations and uses the functionality in the Carmen system to solve the tracking problem.

An Expert User has a good understanding of the planning process, the IT environment and how to utilize and update the Carmen system.

A System Administrator makes sure that the Carmen software runs smoothly, that backups are made regularly and that the operating system is properly configured.

A Developer customizes the user interface and planning/tracking functionality, develops and maintains rules, cost functions, quality constraints, reports and scripts.

A Business Analyst has a strong understanding of the airline business and how it relates to the planning process. A Business Analyst creates long term forecasts and simulations to identify possible process or agreement changes to improve crew resource utilization.
