Jeppesen Crew Management System

Overview

Jeppesen Crew Management System (CMS) provides airlines with significantly lower operating costs, improved flexibility and an integrated crew management process.

Jeppesen CMS covers long-term manpower planning, optimized pairings and crew rosters, tools for maintaining the optimality of the published crew rosters, as well as support for detecting and mitigating operational problems.  Despite being a complete crew management solution, the system is modular and allows for modules to be replaced with alternatives, such as in-house applications.  The core modules are shared by all clients, but the architecture still allows a highly customized behavior of the user interface, data interfaces and business rules and costs.  The architecture supports a low-risk transition from old legacy systems.

  • A complete and integrated solution
  • Modular; allows for modules to be replaced with alternatives (for example, in-house applications)
  • Open architecture allows for tight integration with external systems
  • Process independent, both when it comes to the organization and size of the operation
  • Central data store, designed to contain data for crew, aircraft, and passenger applications
  • Modeling language (Rave) is specifically designed to manage all legality and cost requirements within the crew, aircraft, and passenger area
  • An Alert Monitor is used to visualize all alerts
  • Several optimizers; each is specialized to handle a particular part of the process, such as crew pairing creation or roster maintenance

  • Provides significantly lower operating costs, improved flexibility, and an integrated crew management process
  • Creates optimal pairings, optimal rosters, and maintains the optimality of these rosters through the day of operation
  • The optimization modules have the potential to make large savings compared to manual planning or older, less advanced algorithms
  • The architecture supports a low-risk transition from old legacy systems
