Worldwide navigation expert Jeppesen Marine today announced important organization changes and a key new hire for its Jeppesen Light Marine Leadership Team. According to
Light Marine Division Director James Detar, these moves are designed to make the company more effective and efficient in today’s challenging market and position Jeppesen Marine to take advantage of the great potential he sees for the business in the near future.
These organizational refinements will have a positive effect on Jeppesen Marine’s Product Management Group and Sales and Marketing Teams around the world. Primary among these changes is the consolidation of the company’s worldwide Product Management organization under Francesco Altamura. As new Senior Light Marine Product Manager working out of Jeppesen Marine’s Massa, Italy office, Altamura will oversee market introduction of key new products and services, while working to build up the Light Marine Product Management organization and processes. “Francesco is well equipped to meet these challenges as our company moves into a new era,” said Detar. “His successful track record in service and product management over 15 years with the company provides us with a high level of confidence.”
In another key move, Andrea Buralli has transitioned from European Market Management into the newly established position of Global Light Marine Marketing Manager. While Buralli will also work in Jeppesen
Marine’s Massa, Italy office, he joins the team of Jeppesen Marine Senior Marketing Manager Michelle Buckalew, based at Jeppesen corporate headquarters in Denver, Colorado. “After many successful years for us in European sales, Buralli will be applying his knowledge and expertise in the area of consumer marketing. His efforts will be a key element in the success of our long range business plan,” said Detar. Buralli’s former position in European Market Management in Massa, Italy will be taken over by Gianluca Tucci. In his new role, Tucci will continue to oversee Jeppesen Marine’s critical OEM business while extending his scope of responsibilities to include charting products and services. These combined responsibilities represent an important revenue segment for the Light Marine division.
These strategic changes also include the addition of a new team member in the Americas. With more than 20 years of relevant sales and management experience in the marine industry, Scott MacDonald joins the Jeppesen Light Marine Business Unit as American Market Manager. His office will be based in Florida, a key region for the U.S. boating industry as well as one of its largest consumer markets. “We are pleased to have secured a person with Scott’s background and excellent record of success,” said Detar. “The American marketplace represents one of the greatest growth areas for the Light Marine division. We’re looking forward to his contributions in this extremely important market and region of the world.” Detar believes strongly these moves are important steps towards building a stronger, better company for the future. “Over the last 24 months, we’ve seen unprecedented challenges and Jeppesen Marine — like everybody in our industry — has had to adjust. At the same time, we’ve been pursuing expansion of key business partnerships and planning exciting new products and services. When market conditions do improve, Jeppesen Marine will be positioned to lead the way with a strong, efficient organization and great new products,” said Detar.
